The New Vaudeville Revue: A New Bindlestiff University Partnership Program
Bindlestiff has created a new University Partnership Program: The New Vaudeville Revue
In association with the American Vaudeville Museum, Bindlestiff has created a program that works with college faculty and students to create the New Vaudeville Revue, a stage show. In November 2009, Bindlestiff brought the program to the School of Dance at the University of Arizona Tucson. The two-hour vaudeville spectacular played to four nights of sold out audiences! NYC's first Unicycle Festival coming September 3-5, 2010
The first NYC Unicycle Festival will be rolling across New York City September 3 - 5, 2010. Bindlestiff Family Variety Arts, Inc. is producing this three-day event featuring one-wheel tours across the city, a gathering at Grant's Tomb, and a grand gathering on Governors Island. The festival will feature unicycle races and games, trials demonstrations, public shows, a long-distance ride, and the largest group of one-wheeled enthusiasts ever to gather in the five boroughs! 2010 will be the first year of a festival that is to become an annual tradition for the Big Apple. The Bindlestiffs - Season 1 DVD coming this summer
The 10-episode Season 1, Webby-nominated series, The Bindlestiffs will be released on DVD in the summer of 2010. Stay tuned for news on Season 2.

Ghostwalk Hudson 2010
Ghostwalk is preparing for its second year of haunting the historic streets of Hudson.  Bindlestiff and Walking the Dog Theater are teaming up to create this educational and entertaining youth program. Details here.

Keith Nelson celebrated Sword Swallower's Appreciation Day by taking part in "The Big Swallow" at Ripley's Believe It or Not (Times Square, NYC)
Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Cabaret opened their 15th NYC season at Dixon Place in March 2010
A number of Bindlestiff unicyclist have taken part in the Unicycle NYC Bridge Tour, which included a 42-mile ride with the 5 Boro Cycle Tour.

Family Update: Bindlestiffs Appearing With Other Productions
It may not be the entire Bindlestiff Family Cirkus show, but this year there are many Bindlestiff Family members performing across the nation and world with other productions, from German varieté theaters to cruise ships, to Cirque du Soleil. Here are just a few:

Joel Baker is performing in Cirque du Soleil's Love
Michelle Matlock is performing in cirque de Soleil's Love
Magic Brian is featured in street performing festivals across the world
Hilary Chaplain and Angelo Iodice have been working the German varieté stages.
Kinko the Clown and Richterscale took part in a clown festival in Hangzhou, China. It may very well be the first time a tramp clown has performed in communist China.

Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Featured in Vaudeville Encyclopedia
Frank Cullen (with Florence Hackman and Donald McNeilly) has created one of the most extensive histories of Vaudeville in Vaudeville, Old and New: An Encyclopedia of Variety Performers. In this two volume set, the Bindlestiffs are well represented as a performing troupe, and a few of its artists also are featured on their own. Published by Routledge.
Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Featured in Book About Underground Circuses
J. Dee Hill and Phil Hollenbeck's Freaks and Fire: The Underground Reinvention of Circus devotes a chapter to the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. Also featured are Jim Rose Circus Sideshow, Cloudseeding Circus, Zamora the Torture King, the Yard Dogs, Enigma, the Brothers Grim Sideshow, and many more. Published by Soft Skull Press.

of Columbia County Council on the Arts

Bindlestiff's upstate location in Hudson, NY is the home of the Columbia County Council on the Arts. Founded in 1965, the CCCA has a membership of over 800 individual artists, writers, sculptors, filmmakers, community volunteers, weekend and full-time residents, educators and business owners serves the thriving arts community in Columbia County.

Bindlestiff Joins Columbia County Performing Arts Collective
Since moving to Hudson in 2005, Bindlestiff co-founder Stephanie Monseu has become active and committed to the growth and promotion of the Arts in Columbia County, while remaining involved in Bindlestiff's New York City performing and educational outreach activities.
Known as PerformColumbia, the collective is an association of twenty-five professional and community-based organizations. It's members have come together to promote and nurture the performing arts as essential to a healthy economic and cultural life in Columbia County.
