In addition to annual “Sinter Cirkus” performances at Upstate Films on Montgomery Street,, Bindlestiff presents Sinterklaas newbies Paris, the Hip Hop Juggler in Upstate Films’ Little Theater and Alakazam, the Human Knot, in Foster’s Coach House parking lot. Returning favorite Al Gori is back, with his rideable recycled treasure, the Homespun Merry-Go-Round.
Historic former Vaudeville theater, Upstate Films houses Bindlestiff’s Sinter Cirkus, a duo variety show featuring Bindlestiff founders Mr. Pennygaff and Ringmistress Philomena. Witness circus skills, vaudeville classics, and sideshow thrills as Mr. Pennygaff, one of 70 living sword swallowers in the world, drops 24″ of shining steel into his gullet! Led by whip-cracking Ringmistress Philomena.  Showtimes: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm

Paris, the Hip Hop Juggler

Paris, the Hip Hop Juggler

Next door, in Upstate Films’ Little Theater, Bindlestiff presents Paris, the Hip Hop Juggler. Paris, given the nickname “The Hip-Hop Juggler” by Al Roker himself, has been dazzling audiences with his brand of juggling for over a decade. His combination of style, interactive stunts, witty comedy, and world class juggling talent is sure to amaze the whole family. In addition to bringing his talents to the The Today Show, Sesame Street, and The White House, Paris is constantly traveling the nation performing his act for corporate events, colleges, weddings and festivals. Showtimes 1:30, 2:30, 3:30pm

Steps away, in Foster’s Coach House parking lot, at the corner of Montgomery and Market streets, look for a hand-made, solar-powered, monkey-decorated, bubble-blowing mini-carousel.

Al Gori and the Homespun Merry-Go-Round

Al Gori and the Homespun Merry-Go-Round

Al Gori originally built his Homespun Merry-Go-Round as part of his senior thesis while studying kinetic sculpture at Mason Gross School of the Arts of Rutgers University. Over the years, he’s re-built, refined, and redecorated the Homespun Merry-Go-Round many times- adding mechanical monkeys, birds, and a bubble-blower to it. Built on the rear axle of a 1968 Dodge Dart, and powered by a washing machine motor, Al calls his Homespun Merry-Go-Round “Savage Salvage” : the art of finding new and fun uses for old junk, or, getting something for nothing. The Homespun Merry-Go-Round will be operating between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm, rides are free, and young and old alike are welcome to sit and whirl.

ALAKAZAM! The Human Knot

ALAKAZAM! The Human Knot

Also in Foster’s Coach House parking lot:  ALAKAZAM “The Human Knot”,  An International Street, Circus and Corporate entertainer. Audiences the world over have been left breathless by Al’s incredibly freaky body contortions, cheeky comedy and ridiculous, sky-high feats of danger. A mix of traditional vaudeville, circus sideshow and twisted comedy, THE HUMAN KNOT is a self-contained freak-show suitable for the whole family! Alakazam was a grand finalist on “Australia’s Got Talent” Season 1. He has performed in 35 countries since 1996, Including private events for Bruce Springsteen, Sting, The Police, Flea and Woody Harrelson. Shows at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm
