Hudson SummerFest celebrates the diversity of all that Hudson has to offer, and serves as a source of fund raising for three local organizations that foster creativity, citizenship, and community solidarity. This year’s SummerFest beneficiaries include The Hudson Area Library, The FarmOn! Foundation, and the Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.
Bindlestiff co-founders Stephanie Monseu and Keith Nelson will be joined by performers Amy Chen, Jean-Tae Francis, and a group of teens from Bindlestiff’s Hudson Juggling Club as roving merry-makers and prop manipulators. Junior counselors from Bindlestiff’s Cirkus After School program will be on hand with information and registration materials for Fall Cirkus After School programs with Hudson’s Department of Youth and Chatham’s Morris Memorial. Bindlestiff’s Columbia County Youth programs are supported by The Galvan Charitable Foundation, the City of Hudson Department of Youth, The Stewart’s Foundation, The Rhinestrom-Hill Community Foundation, the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, The City of Hudson Common Council, and through private donations and partnerships with The Hudson Opera House, Operation Unite New York, The Morris Memorial Foundation, The Hudson City School District, and the Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood.
2017’s inaugural festival features live music (NRBQ, Too Blue, The Rolla Boys, more), audience engaging performances by artists from Bindlestiff Family Cirkus, local food and beverage vendors curated by the FarmOn! Foundation, and work by local artisans. The Hudson Area Library hosts readings and book signing by children’s authors and illustrators, plus origami demonstrations and hands-on art projects hosted by Etsy makers.
