BFVA Goals

Plans include our annual Bindlestiff Family Cirkus Winter Cabaret season, since 1995 in New York City and since 2010, Hudson, NY; the ongoing monthly Bindlestiff Open Stage Variety Show for emerging artists in our field; and cultivating new and ongoing relationships with festivals and arts presenters.

Since 2015, we’ve been represented by Siegel Artist Management, a promising creative collaboration helping Bindlestiff to expand its national touring reach back to the coast-to-coast network it traveled from 1995 to 2001.

Community Enrichment

Since 2013, a new re-grant program, Bindlestiff’s First of May Award, offers emerging NYC-based artists in the circus and variety field an opportunity to obtain financial support and valuable mentorship from Bindlestiff in the form of guidance in fundraising and grant-writing; production expertise, administrative assistance, and fiscal sponsorship. The First of May Award is open to anyone who is based in NYC, or partnering with a NYC resident. Winners are selected by a panel of professional circus and theater artists, agents, producers, and directors each year.

Youth and Education

BFVA will continue to develop and expand its educational programs with the acquisition of more equipment, new partnerships, greater outreach, and continued professional development for its instructors. Bindlestiff is a member of the American Youth Circus Organization and American Circus Educators, professional, member-driven organizations dedicated to the development and implementation of high-quality youth circus programs and paradigms.
