Nelson Hughes Presents “That Slapstick Show” featuring Laurel & Hardy

Stan Laurel (1890-1965) and Oliver Hardy (1892-1957) were a comedy duo in the early Classic Hollywood era of American cinema. The bowler-hat-wearing pair catapulted to wide fame. Nelson Hughes who is a film researcher, curator and collector, curates the evening. His series “That Slapstick Show” is in its fifth year and this evening will be its second show in Manhattan. Hughes’ co-organizer over the years is Tommy Jose Stathes, a curator of rare animated silent cartoons. A panel will follow including Steve Massa of the New York Public Library of the Performing Arts and author of “Slapstick Divas”; Jack Roth, who leads the New York chapter of the Laurel and Hardy society, called Sons of the Desert; and comedian Bob Greenberg.
Thursday, April 25th at 7pm.
