"A sizable Broadway hit and a homage to a classical American theatrical form" is how the NY Post described this tribute to the burlesque style of the early 1900's through 1930. This riotously funny musical will be presented in Snug Harbor's Music Hall from May 4 through May 13, 2007. The show follows the classic recipe for the typical Burlesque venue one might find in a run-of-the-mill theatre playhouse at the turn of the 20th century. The original 1979 Broadway production starred the talented and energetic duo, Anne Miller and Mickey Rooney, and had a long and well deserved run boasting 1208 performances and 8 Tony Award nominations. The shows strengths lie in its dense compilation of some of the greatest Burlesque sketches and musical numbers which fire off in a barrage of colorful acts overlapping in such a way as to thrill all theatre goers, even those with the shortest of attention spans. In short, Sugar Babies is a historical re-enactment of one of the greatest eras of show business where some of America's greatest comics received their training before moving to Vaudeville, Broadway, film and television. The show tributes this valued section of theatre history by including classic Burlesque sketches such as: "The Little Red Schoolhouse", "Meet Me Round The Corner"," "The Minstrel" and "The Court of Last Retort." Popular songs include: "Good Old Burlesque Show", "I Feel A Song Coming On", "Don"t Blame Me", "Keeping Myself Available", "Exactly Like You", "I Can"t Give You Anything Bu Love"," and "On the Sunny Side of the Street".
