BFC/MAGIC HAT SUMMER VARIETY SHOW TECHNICAL & HOSPITALITY RIDER

PARKING, LOADING AND STAFF
  • Secure parking space on venue property for 50' tour bus and extended-body van
  • Vehicle access to venue (loading dock, roll up door, etc.) 5 hours before the house is open to the public and for 2 hours after the show ends
  • Two people to assist in unloading and loading Bindlestiff equipment
TECHNICAL SET UP, REHEARSAL TIME AND STAFF
  • Exclusive use of the performance space, sound and lighting equipment 4 hours before the house is open to the public and for 2 hours after the show ends.
STAGE
  • Playing area must be at least 20' x 17' with minimum of 17' overhead clearance free of cables, wires and drapery. Stage surface must be level, smooth, uncarpeted and stable, and should be swept, mopped, and dry before Cirkus load in.
  • Stable steps at the front or side of the stage to allow performers to walk to audience area.
AUDIO
  • Qualified sound technician should be available 2 hours before doors
  • Audio system sufficient to provide adequate levels and coverage to audience area.
  • System should be set up and in working condition at time of Cirkus load in.
  • System should include:
    • CD playback capability
    • Minimum 5 XLR inputs
    • Four SM 58 microphones- one cordless, one with a 30' cable
    • Two DI boxes
    • Two stage monitors- one for musician, one for vocals
    • Two straight mic stands, (one with large clip for wireless mic) two boom stands
    We will bring 2 Samson Aircheck headset mics for use in the show.
LIGHTING
  • Our tech will assist in setting lighting and blackout cues with house operator two hours prior to show
  • Bright general wash over playing space with 2 specials focused on aerial and rope rigging (where applicable)
  • Follow spot with operator
RIGGING FOR TRAPEZE AND SLACKROPE (where applicable)
  • Rigging points to be inspected by and rigging equipment installed by Bindlestiff personnel. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Necessary height from stage or floor to ceiling, deck or grid is minimum 17'. Suitable structural elements to attach equipment to are steel I-beams, either completely accessible all the way around or with the bottom part of the "I" and flange exposed. Wooden structural beams or joists, 3" x 8" or bigger, accessible all the way around or exposed on three sides. Truss or pipe grid which is attached to structural members using rated hardware and capable of supporting 1000 lbs. is suitable.
  • Equipment necessary to safely reach rigging points (1.e. genie lift or ladder; access to fly deck) provided by venue
  • Load rated spansets (provided by Cirkus) may be used to wrap around grid, deck or truss beams
  • Trapeze: 2 points, each rated minimum 500 pounds, located center; oriented parallel with front of stage and located approx 26" apart
  • Aerial Rope: 1 point, rated minimum 800 pounds, located center of playing space
  • If necessary, four 1/4" eye bolts will be screwed into wood beams at 5" depth and removed after performance
  • Slackrope: 2 points in floor, rated for 500 pounds (anchor plates, eyebolts, or spansets wrapped around structrual members) 36' apart and parallel to front of stage.

  • 10'- 12' uprights will be set up 7'? from each rigging point to raise wire off floor. If stage is too narrow, act may be done on floor in front of stage.
HOSPITALITY
DRESSING ROOMS
  • Rooms are to be for for the sole use of Bindlestiff artists and tour staff. Rooms must be clean, well ventilated, adequately heated or cooled and large enough for 7 people to dress; rooms must be close to stage, private, secure, dry and well lit, with full length mirrors and running water, and with access to private toilet facilities. We will need an ironing board, a clean steam iron and 8 clean white cotton towels.
FOOD AND DRINK
  • 1 light meal (deli platter, fruit trays, assortment of cheeses, juices and coffee) for 7 people of high quality food with some vegetarian selection 3 hours before doors, and a hot meal after the show. (fish or chicken, vegetable, and fresh salad)
  • 24 bottles of water in dressing room
DISPOSABLES/PROPS
  • 2 AAA batteries per show
  • 4 AA batteries per show
  • 6 longstem red roses per show
  • one pack Lucky Strike cigarettes
  • three long-neck glass bottles of Magic Hat Beer
  • one box Tampax Super tampons (no substitutes!)
HOUSING
  • 4 double rooms for each night of shows in clean, reputable hotel with late check out
